Talking to Jeff Lemire About “Black Hammer”

Posted by TymeHunter on July 15, 2016

Jeff Lemire is a creator with not only a tremendous body of work, but a tremendous body of GOOD work. Readers flock to his stories, if only because they are so rich and unique; his¬†writing constantly feels fresh and original. From your typical superhero books to the weird and bizarre in the indie universes he occasionally delves in, Mr. Lemire has talent, pure and simple. His latest comic, Black Hammer, published by Dark Horse Comics, is everything you’d expect from Lemire. Having already read the first issue, I can tell you it’s certainly worth your money if you’re in the market for an atypical superhero comic. I was lucky enough to interview Mr. Lemire about his work and you can check out my interview over at¬†Bleeding Cool¬†!

Talking to Cullen Bunn About His Upcoming “Conan the Slayer”!

Posted by TymeHunter on July 4, 2016

Conan-the-Slayer-1-2

Cullen Bunn has established himself as a prominent writer throughout the years and getting the chance to talk to such a talent was something I couldn’t pass up! With a new Dark Horse Comics series coming out on July 12, featuring the pulp hero Conan the Barbarian,¬†Conan the Slayer looks like it’s going to be a hell of a fun read! Throughout the interview, the two of us spoke on everything from what makes Conan such a beloved character, to what we can expect to see in his comics-rested future. You can check out my interview over at¬†Bleeding Cool¬†!

The 4th Doctor Gets His Own “Doctor Who” Comic!

You read that right! Titan Comics is at it again, giving readers a new comic book featuring Tom Baker’s¬†Fourth¬†Doctor! They’ve been doing some great stuff with their Doctor Who¬†comic line, from their The Four Doctors crossover, to giving Paul McGann’s¬†Eighth Doctor his own series! Featuring¬†the Time Lord in his, arguably, most iconic look, along with companion Sarah Jane Smith, the duo will take front and center in a 5-part miniseries.

The story, titled Gaze of the Medusa, and written by Gordon Rennie and Emma Beeby, with art by Brian Williamson, will showcase the Doctor and Sarah Jane in Victorian London, coming face-to-face with a enigmatic woman who controls a literal army of cyclopian monsters.

So yeah, I’m sold.

The Fourth Doctor #1 comes out in March 2016.

NYCC’15 Interview- Tim Daniel Talks Monsters in “Enormous”

Posted by TymeHunter on October 31, 2015

enormous_cvr_1

If you’re reading comics and not reading Tim Daniel’s Enormous, then you’re missing out dearly. Yet that’s only his latest work; he’s written other great titles like Burning Fields and Curse. All of it is gold. One of the most¬†prolific writers to emerge on the comic book scene within the last couple years, Mr. Tim Daniel has a very promising career ahead of him. With depth to his stories and the characters within, his work¬†is oftentimes unassumingly dense in nature, demanding the reader’s attention.

At New York Comic Con several weeks ago, the two of us talked at length about his comics and the in-depth process required to not only write, but giving the reader something worth reading. Check out my interview over at Bleeding Cool!

NYCC’15 Interview- On Comics With Fred Van Lente

Posted by TymeHunter on October 31, 2015

Magnus-Robot-Fighter-1

Comics, comics, and even more comics. When I go to New York Comic Con, or any Con for that matter, my priority is to make the event about comics and their creators. Fred Van Lente, known for a wide plethora of work, most all of it rather fantastic, was able to talk with me about comic books. Sure, our time together was relatively short, but seeing as he’s the guy who’s done everything from The Incredible Hercules to Magnus: Robot Fighter, I was thrilled to hear his thoughts on writing. NYCC’15 Interview- Brian Schirmer Talks “Black Jack Ketchum”

Posted by TymeHunter on October 30, 2015

With tons of comics out on the market today, it can be difficult for some to navigate through the quagmire of shelves lining their local comic book store. That said, Image Comics will be releasing a certain book in a few months that I think deserves a look. Black Jack Ketchum, written by Brian Schirmer, sounds unique and fun enough to warrant you picking it up.

While at New York Comic Con several weeks ago, Mr. Schirmer and I sat down outside the VIP lounge to talk not only his latest work, but comics and writing theory in general. I enjoy these manner of conversations, because they become more than the usual banter between reporter and interviewee; rather, getting to the meat of how a creator works, never ceases to intrigue me. Anyway, you can check out my interview over Bleeding Cool!

Marvel Comics decided to celebrate the highly anticipated Back the the Future Day, by¬†featuring artist Reilly Brown’s Deadpool and Cable: Split Second #2 cover. Obviously paying tribute to the awe-inspiring film series, it makes sense, in a bizarre way, for these characters to be time traveling in a DeLorean. If you want to check out the book, the first issue is readable online here¬†as a digital-first comic.

Aaron Lopresti has been in comics for decades. Odds are, if you’re a comic reader, you’re aware of¬†something he’s worked on. From Sludge to Justice League International: Generation Lost, he has quite the list of accomplishments. During this year’s New York Comic Con, he was another creator who I interviewed; the two of us talked about his Power Cubed. Frankly, the man had a great many interesting things to say, especially about comics¬†and bringing the fun back to them. Anyway, feel free to check out my interview over at¬†Bleeding Cool¬†!

NYCC’15 Interview W/H.S. Tak and Amancay Nahuelpan On “Boy-1”

Posted by TymeHunter on October 18, 2015

4791341-02

The other week at New York Comic Con 2015, I met up with creators H.S. Tak and Amancay Nahuelpan to discuss their work on their IDW book, Boy-1. Given the time and the opportunity, I will ask questions until the cows come home! ¬†That said, the three of us, at least in my opinion, had a wonderful and¬†in depth discussion about the comic (which you should check out if you haven’t already), science, and the craft behind writing and drawing a comic book. You can read my interview over at¬†Bleeding Cool!

The Inhumans Get A New Look

Posted by TymeHunter on September 26, 2015

inhumandesignheader-152753

At least Black Bolt and the Human Torch do. With Uncanny Inhumans just over¬†the horizon, as Marvel continues to try and push the motley team of heroes on its readers, the characters are getting some new duds. As you can see, Black Bolt looks like he got off the set of a Michael Bay movie, forced to glide down in one of those wing-suits against Transformers. And Johnny? I guess it works? I wish I had something to witty to say, but I’ll just shrug my shoulders with a resounding eh and be done with it.
