The legacy of the Power Rangers franchise is such that once a series ends, another take its place. In this case, jumping off the 25h anniversary celebration with Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel comes Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the next installment in the history of Power Rangers. There are many reasons why this is a big deal, but chief among them is that Power Rangers Beast Morphers is the first Power Rangers show to debut under Hasbro’s ownership.
Originally, the Power Rangers franchise was not only created by, but also owned by Haim Saban. Recent events changed all that and Hasbro and is pushing the license to new heights; they reportedly have big plans for Power Rangers.
This past weekend at Power Morphicon at the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel panel, the first trailer for Power Rangers Beast Morphers dropped. Set to officially debut over on Nickelodeon in 2019 sometime, the show uses footage from the 2012 Super Sentai program Tokumei Sentain Go-Busters. Yet chronologically speaking, that series was skipped over and the programing jumped to Power Rangers Dino Charge instead.
All that said, I’m pretty excited with the Power Rangers Beast Morphers trailer. A few departures from the typical Power Rangers formula are taken and more than anything I just want to see how fans respond to this new direction Hasbro has set out for the franchise.
