What’s there to say about the Dragon Ball franchise that hasn’t been discussed ad nauseam? Rather than explaining how the show i.e. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super (and even Dragon Ball GT), is arguably one of the most influential modern anime, we’ll jump right in!
There’s a new viral video going around the Internet and fans absolutely love it. The video, which is just under 21 seconds, makes the effort to encapsulate the show’s essence. For those who haven’t seen an episode of Dragon Ball Z, this is a perfectly humorous segue into understanding what the commotion is all about.
Sure, there’s time travel, energy blasts capable of wiping out entire planets, aliens, and iconic hand-to-hand fight sequences, but at the end of the day the majority of people seem to focus on one aspect and one aspect only of Dragon Ball Z: the yelling.
To be fair, there is a lot of screaming and yelling throughout the franchise, but, and I’m going to take this super seriously for a second, the yelling is really just these interstellar martial artists letting out kiais, a shout used in martial arts as one executes a respective move. Of course Dragon Ball takes it up a level and I could go on, but I don’t want to harp on the subject.
Anyhoo, the fantastical audio snippet used in the video comes from an Australian singer Kirin J. Callinan in the song Big Enough. It too has plenty of impassioned yelling and makes for the perfect pairing with Dragon Ball Z.
