Back during the Golden Age, Captain Marvel a.k.a. Shazam, was oftentimes affectionately referred to as “The Big Red Cheese.” The character was big, warm, powerful, and incredibly hokey. In short, Shazam was awesome and a wholesome character that kids could look up to, if only because his alter ego was a kid.

In keeping the hype building for the movie Shazam!, especially with the trailer dropping at San Diego Comic Con this week, Warner Bros. has released yet another image; it’s just as heartfelt as the last.

This time around we see Billy Batson as his superhero persona Shazam, totally digging his new powers. His best friend Freddy Freeman (who some fans might also know later becomes Captain Marvel Jr.) is also clearly awestruck with his bud having super powers.

There is a child-like enthusiasm to it all, with Zachary Levi seemingly capturing the essence of the superhero. After a period of unending dark and gritty films in the DCEU, Shazam! is the family-friendly addition that we’ve all been awaiting and didn’t even know we wanted.

Shazam! is set to hit theaters on April 5th, 2019, but you can grab at sneak peak at SDCC this Saturday, July 21st, over in Hall H at the DC Films panel.
