Warner Brothers and DC Comics have joined forces to create one of the most awesome things in recent superheroic history. Do you like Batman? Do you want to see Batman live? Do you want to see Batman live as he renders thugs’ jaws utterly useless? Of course you do, who wouldn’t? Anyway, this story has been kept quiet for a while now, since April as a matter of fact, but press release has started yet again!
For those of you concerned, this is NOT going to be some Batman: The Musical, much like how it’s been done to Spider-Man. The official website describes Batman Live as:
“Based on an original story being created exclusively for the show, BATMAN LIVE is a theatrical extravaganza of thrilling stunts, acrobatic acts and illusions. Never before has Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum been brought to life on stage in a more visually exciting way. Join Batman and Robin as they battle their nemesis The Joker and other super-villains such as The Riddler, Catwoman, The Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, set on destroying Gotham City. entic, bold and awe-inspiring, BATMAN LIVE will be a completely new way to experience the world of Batman. This is one adventure you do not want to miss!”
So there you have it, everyone’s favorite Caped Crusader will be going on tour kicking ass and taking names. The tour will apparently begin in the UK and Europe in the Summer of 2011, before moving on to the U.S. in the summer of 2012…which means we still have a long time to wait. Personally, I don’t understand this rationale, seeing as Batman is probably infinitely more popular in the United States than in Europe. Unless Gotham City actually resides in Europe, the show ought to start out HERE!
