For those of you who went and saw Iron Man 2, the image of Scarlett Johansson dressed head to toe in leather, kicking the bejesus out of a small army of security guards, is perhaps the scene that stands out most in the mind. Throughout the course of the movie, Black Widow’s character didn’t do all that much, which is somewhat unfortunate. While going to be a part of 2012’s The Avengers, odds are Black Widow is not going to get a chance to shine all that much, outclassed by the likes of Thor and Captain America.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed during a press conference that he has already discussed the idea of making a Black Widow solo feature with Johansson and that she will eventually receive her own film. This is good news, seeing as there are a bunch of female superheroes, yet most of them have not been getting their own movies. There’s been no clear indication as to what sort of story line would go into making a movie of Black Widow, but perhaps the classic origin story is in order. To see the character build her way up to becoming a world class spy/superhero, would surely make for entertaining viewing.
