I was putting off this post for as long as possible, because even though it had been confirmed that Chris Evans was going to be playing the part of Captain America in the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America I was waiting for an OFFICIAL confirmation. And so, I suppose it has been officially confirmed.
The search to find the Star-Spangled Avenger has taken many weeks to process, with all sorts of possible candidates being thrown into the mix. Recently though, Evans was approached and then quickly casted. To be honest, I’m not impressed with this decision. There are quite a few websites that are advocating for him, thinking that he will do the part justice. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Chris Evans, it’s just I’ve seen him in the Fantastic Four movies and in Push and none of those films proves to me that he would make for a decent, much less good, Captain America.
Anyway, I could ramble on about my fear and loathing, but no. Evans will eventually team-up with the likes of Robert Downey Jr. (the star of Iron Man) along with the rest of the cast who shall make up The Avengers. All that’s left now is for the movies to come out. I do think it will be interesting to see how all these actors interact with one another and whether being lead by Chris Evans will work out for the best. Variety wrote a piece about the whole thing, so here’s the link if you want to check it out and want a more “official” informant.
